INSTRUCTION FOR A.C FHP MOTORS
CROMPTON GREAVES FHP MOTORS are mechanically robust, electrically sound and are simple to use and maintain. Unforeseen disorders may, however result from improper handling.
The user is therefore urged to take due care in their installation, operation and maintenance by following the instructions given below.

1. ON RECEIPT
Examine the motor and if found damaged advice carrier/ dealer and our branch office in the area without delay. Give complete reference of documents and nameplate details on motor.
2. MOUNTING
Carefully align motor and driven machine to avoid unnecessary stress and wear. Use flexible coupling for direct drives. Driving belts should be flexible and just tight enough to prevent the belt slipping.
Note 1: Shaft fitments (e.g. pulleys, coupling etc.) should be bored to clearance dimension ensuring a light hand push fit on to the motor shaft; in no case should they be driven on to the shaft.
Note 2: Where a greater interference fit is considered essential the opposite driving end of the motor shaft must be supported while the shaft fitment is tapped into position. Support can be obtained by engagment of a solidily fixed center in to the ODE shaft end.
3. CONNECTIONS
Check voltage and frequency of electric supply with that on motor rating plate. Connection diagram and instructions for reversal of direction of rotation are supplied with each motor. Conduit must not enter tapped whole more than 5/16” (8mm). All the motors should be properly earthed.
NOTE FOR CAPACITOR MOTORS:
It is a good practise to reform the capacitor before use of motor. This can be done by switching the motor on and off a dozen times before coupling it to any load. Use of a suitable portable device is advisable.
PERFORMANCE:
Motors comply with BS5000 part 11/IS 996 as specified on the rating plate.
LUBRICATION:
- Sleeve bearing motors are send out charged with high grade lubricating oil suffiecient for atleast 12 months normal operation. Replenish each bearing with a spoonful (5ml) of oile very 12 months. Replenish before starting after 12 months storage. Unless special oil is speficied on a label fived to the motor use good quality light mineral oil.
- Ball bearing is suffieciently charged with grease. on normal duty unless leakage occurs on further atteintion in necessary. For heavy duty, re- greases each bearing every twelve months. Grease cavities should be only half filled. Unless a special grease is specified by a label fixed to the motor, use a good quality high bearing grease eg MP II/ Servogem II.
